PealCast works with Blackmagic.

ATEM Mini Pro, ATEM Mini Extreme, or a Blackmagic Streaming Encoder — they all stream straight to PealCast over SRT. Keep your booth exactly as it is and change one thing: where the stream goes.

Keep the box you already own

The ATEM Mini in your booth already has a streaming engine built in. Nothing new to buy, nothing to re-cable — you only change where the stream goes.

Stream over SRT, not just RTMP

Since the 9.5 update, ATEM streams SRT — so a busy church network recovers instead of freezing. PealCast gives you an SRT address on every plan.

Now every viewer is a name

The moment someone watches on PealCast, they connect with a verified mobile number — and every Monday your team gets the Shepherd’s Report of who to welcome and who to check on.

Stream from an ATEM to PealCast

The ATEM has its own streaming engine, so nothing else has to be running in the booth. Five steps, and the first one is the one everybody skips.

1

Update ATEM Software Control — and the switcher itself

SRT needs version 9.5 or newer, and 9.6+ is what we would run. Install the latest ATEM Switchers software from Blackmagic’s support page, then open ATEM Setup and update the switcher’s own firmware. This second step is separate and easy to miss — installing the app alone does not update the box, and that is the usual reason SRT never shows up.

2

Copy your PealCast SRT address

Start free, open your channel in PealCast and go to Stream Info. Switch the toggle to SRT and copy the address. It looks like srt://live.pealcast.io:778?streamid=…&passphrase=… — you are about to split it into three fields.

3

In ATEM Software Control, choose “Custom URL H.264”

Open ATEM Software Control, go to the Output / Live Stream panel, and set Platform to “Custom URL H.264”. Do not pick a social platform from the list — PealCast is your streaming home, and the custom option is what lets you paste our address.

4

Paste the three parts and pick a quality

Server: srt://live.pealcast.io:778 · Key: the stream ID from your address · Passphrase: the passphrase from your address. Then set Quality to Streaming High (or Medium if your upload is tight) and save.

5

Press ON AIR

Hit the On Air button. Your service goes live on PealCast, your people get the go-live text, and every viewer is captured for the weekly Shepherd’s Report — automatically.

One address, three fields

PealCast gives you a single SRT address. Blackmagic asks for it in three parts, so here is exactly which piece goes where.

srt://live.pealcast.io:778?streamid=YOUR_STREAM_ID&passphrase=YOUR_PASSPHRASE
Server

srt://live.pealcast.io:778

The part of your address before the question mark. Include the port.

Key

The value after streamid=

Everything between “streamid=” and the “&”. Blackmagic calls this the Key; SRT calls it the stream ID.

Latency / buffer

Nothing to set

ATEM Software Control has no SRT latency field — Server, Key and Passphrase are the whole form — so the switcher uses SRT’s default buffer. That still recovers lost packets far better than RTMP. Set the reconnect options instead: they are what keep a service alive through a wobble.

Passphrase

The value after passphrase=

Everything after “passphrase=” to the end. It is the encryption key for the stream, so treat it like a password.

Your passphrase is a password. Anyone who has it can stream as your church.

Prefer RTMPS? That works too.

Also fully supported

Every PealCast channel comes with both an SRT and an RTMPS address, and the setup is the same “Custom URL H.264” platform — RTMPS just fills two fields instead of three. Use it if your ATEM is on older firmware without SRT, or if RTMPS is simply what your booth knows.

Server

Your PealCast RTMPS URL

From the same Stream Info page — flip the toggle to RTMPS. It looks like rtmps://live.pealcast.io/live/

Key

Your PealCast stream key

⚠️ This is the RTMPS key, a DIFFERENT value from the SRT passphrase. Copy it from the RTMPS tab, not the SRT one.

Passphrase

Leave empty

RTMPS carries no passphrase — the stream key is the credential.

Everything else — quality, video standard, audio — is identical on both protocols. We recommend SRT where you have it, because it recovers from the packet loss that freezes a stream mid-service; RTMPS has no such recovery.

Streaming Encoder HD · 4K (formerly Web Presenter)

Stream from a Blackmagic Streaming Encoder

Same three fields, different utility. Blackmagic renamed the Web Presenter line to Streaming Encoder — if your box says Web Presenter on the front, these steps are still yours.

1

Update the encoder’s firmware to 3.5 or newer

Connect the Streaming Encoder (or Web Presenter) to your computer over USB, open Blackmagic Streaming Setup — Web Presenter Setup on older units — and take any firmware update it offers. SRT needs firmware 3.5 or above.

2

Copy your PealCast SRT address

In PealCast, open your channel’s Stream Info page, switch to SRT and copy the address.

3

Set Platform to “Custom URL H.264”

In the setup utility, choose the Custom URL H.264 platform rather than a social service.

4

Fill in Server, Key and Passphrase

Server: srt://live.pealcast.io:778 · Key: your stream ID · Passphrase: your passphrase. Save the settings to the unit — they live on the box, so it remembers them without a computer attached.

5

Press the stream button

Feed the unit your SDI signal and start the stream from the front panel. That is the whole setup; the box does the rest every week.
